A Poem summarising the 12 Qualities of Prayer -
From the teachings of Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh - taught by Imam Qais Miah

Bowing down in prostration
Falling into submission and humility
Cocooned in love with majestic light
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
The heart cries and weeps
“I am nothing, I know nothing”
A sinful being striving for mercy
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
This sin became a habit
Waking up wanting to change
A path to purify found
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
Bound by the law of Shariah
A Muslims way of life
Purifying body, mind and heart
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
In the day and night enveloped in presence
“Allah is with me, Allah is seeing me, Allah is hearing me”
Striving for honesty in our actions of daily life
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
A hand pulls out
Seeking blessings from humanity
A pound or two, a bag of food or a simple reassuring du’a
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
A stranded traveller
Lost seeking her path
A helping hand will go a long way
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
Losing her husband
A widow sat smiling in her innocence
Fulfilling her needs and removing her worries
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
She wonders in the streets
With the baggage of her problems
A loving voice came and said “I’m here to listen”
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
She stood looking in deep sorrow
A grand table laid full of delights
Joyously she smiled, upon the invitation to dine
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
Open the wardrobe
Full of clothes galore
Sharing is caring - clothing those in need
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
A new city and land
Feeling unwelcome
Open the door - welcome with love
Bowed down seeking acceptance of prayer
Yours truly,
The Servant
The 12 Qualities of acceptance of Prayer mentioned by Imam Qais Miah:
A person who is humble towards Allah سبحان و تعالىٰ creation - humbleness is like a magnet that pulls a person towards Allah سبحان و تعالىٰ.
That person who doesn’t boast and arrogant against Allah’s سبحان و تعالىٰ creation and put others down - People who are showing off they are showing they have nothing inside.
Who continuously doesn’t become a habitual sinner through the night (drugs, zina etc). This Salah isn’t accepted. The salah should be teaching us to control our bodily organs.
The person who doesn’t cross the limits of Allah’s سبحان و تعالىٰ boundaries - this is referring to Shariah - to stay with the boundaries of Shariah. This is what purification is teaching you.
Who during the day also stays in Allah’s presence and remembers me - eg. being honest in dealings.
The one who has mercy, helps and cares for the poor.
A person who is stranded or a person in need like a traveller - Allah سبحان و تعالىٰ loves those who are stranded, we need to help them.
A person who cares and helps widows - we do not know the emotion and the feelings a widow is going through. By helping, we are relieving their burdens.
Has mercy, cares and shares with the one in problem and calamity - can be as simple as listening to people. Or to help someone out of debt.
Who cares for the hungry.
Who cares for the honour of people who have no clothes - giving the best of clothes to those people.
The one who makes the stranger feel loved - eg. when we go to pray, give Salam to people, get to know people.
