Prophetic Gems
Throughout the centuries, the lovers and scholars invite us to follow the Prophetic Way. We are taught this through adopting the Sunnah. Here are some Prophetic Gems for us to reflect on and implement in our lives. As the lovers and scholars say, 'it is only through adopting the Sunnah that we truly manifest our love for the Beloved One ï·º.' The Sunnah's and reminders of purification mentioned are from Imam Abu Hamid Al Ghazali's - The Beginning of Guidance (translated by Mashhad Al-Altaf).
Upon Waking
"Try to awake before dawn and let the first words in your heart and on your tongue be the remembrance of Allah ï·»." (p. 26)

Fasting
"You should not confine yourself to fasting only in Ramadan, thereby neglecting the [spiritual] commerce of voluntary acts as well as the acquisition of high degrees in upper levels of Paradise." (p. 84)

Friday
"When Fajr comes, have a ritual bath, for a bath on Friday is an obligation upon every adult -that is, an established and emphasised practice." (p.80)

Promise
"Beware of ever promising something and then not keeping your promise. Rather, let your goodness towards people be in the realm of action, without [the needs for] words. But if you are forced to make a promise, then be careful not to break it, unless you are incapable of fulfilling it or you have to do so out of absolute necessity. For indeed breaking a promise is among the signs of hypocrisy and repugnant character. " (p. 96)

Ablution
"Having cleaned yourself after relieving yourself, do not neglect to use a tooth-stick (miswak), for it purifies the mouth and pleases the Lord and displeases Satan." (p. 30)

Our Limbs
"Know that you disobey Allah ï·» Most High with your limbs, while they are a bounty from Allah ï·» and a trust to you." (p. 90)

Cursing
"Take care never to curse anything that Allah Most High has created, whether an animal or a type of food or a particular person; nor to swear that one of the people of the qibla is guilty of associating partners with Allah ï·», or of disbelief, or of hypocrisy. Indeed the only one who sees the secrets of the hearts is Allah Most High..." (p.100)

Stomach
"Protect it from eating the forbidden and [even] the doubtful and strive to seek out the lawful. Once you have obtained what is lawful, try not to eat to repletion, for indeed satiety hardens the heart, ruins the intellect, hinder's one's ability to memorise, makes one indolent in worship and seeking knowledge..." (p. 104)

Entering the Mosque
"When you are going to enter the Mosque, do so right foot first and say, "O Allah ï·», bless Muhammad ï·º and the family of Muhammad ï·º and give them peace . O Allah ï·», forgive me, my sins and open to me the doors of Your mercy."" (p. 40)

Our Tongue
."...it was created for you only so that you could spend much time in the remembrance of Allah ï·» Most High and in recitation of His Book; that you could guide Allah's ï·» creatures to His way and that you express your needs in worldly and religious matters."
(p. 92)

Sleeping
"Before sleeping, prepare your tooth-stick (miswak) and water for ablution and resolve to prayer the night vigil and to be up before the morning prayer."
(p.64)

Hands
"Do not use them to strike a Muslim, to receive unlawful wealth, to harm any of Allah Most High's creation, to betray a trust of a Muslim, or to ruin something placed in your care."
(p. 106)

Ritual Prayer
"Know that Allah ï·» Most High is observing your inner self and beholding your heart... Worship Him in your prayer as if you see Him, or (knowing) that even though you do not see Him, He sees you." (p. 68)

Knowledge
"Do not imagine that you will be able to maintain a sound intention in your pursuit of sacred knowledge while there exists an iota of envy, ostentation or conceit in your heart. The Messenger of Allah ï·º said, "There are three destructive vices; obeying an impulse to be stingy following passion and admiring oneself."" (Tabarani, Al-Mu'jan al Aswat).(p.112)

Eyes
"It was created for you only so that you might be guided by it in the darkness, that you might be helped by it with respect to your needs; that by it you might see the wonders in the dominions of the heavens and earth and consider the signs they contain." (p.92)

Heart
"The heart is that morsel of the body which, if sound, the rest of the body by it is sound and whole, and if corrupt, the rest of the body by it is corrupt. So engage in rectifying it, so that you may rectify all your limbs and faculties." (p.110)
